How to fully DISASSEMBLE a SeaGate FreeAgent GoFlex Portable External Hard Drive

Yes, finally, a video on how to take these crazy things apart. Well, as I say in the video I'm not 100% sure I'm the absolute FIRST to do it, but if I'm not, well now it's one video easier to find if that makes sense. So yeah this is a video on how to take apart the presumably latest model of the portable GoFlex hard drives. It's really easy to do, in fact it's almost TOO easy. The actual hard drive itself, meaning the one inside the enclosure. is apparently not manufactured and sold separately as a stand alone drive. So as a result there isn't much info about it, but from what I can make out it is a 5400 rpm SATA drive. It also feels slightly thicker than usual, which is something that I DO mention in the REASSEMBLY video, but not this one. However maybe it's a normal thickness. I don't know. I've only handled so many 2.5 inch drives, in fact I've only handled a total of two.

It's a old 3.0 GB Seagate Hard drive I had. It's useless at 3.0 GB I opened it up hooked it up to a PC and it continued working! (playing a Paul Oakenfold MP3) notice the buffer memory kicking in when the hard drive stops. I re-edited this video. Before it was over 10 minutes long. There's no need to have a 10 minute video of this.

You find you have to weigh the pros and cons and sometimes decide to do nothing at all - for the moment. That's what I did last November when I was wrestling with the choice of a new camcorder. You see, I have never had a real reason to move into high definition video production. My trusty Canon GL2 DV camcorders have served me long and well, and my computers happily edit DV material. However, I can see the writing on the wall and it says "time to move on." At the pace of change with this technology, I wanted to spend as little as possible to get into high definition until the "Next Big Thing" comes along, which I expect soon. I spent considerable time debating whether to buy the JVC GY-HM100 or the Panasonic AG-HMC40. I even wrote a comparison between the JVC GY-HM100 and Panasonic AG-HMC40 at http , two cameras I was deciding between. I consider both great values. Neither one uses tape and the Panasonic uses the AVCHD codec, and I had read so many stories about long transcoding times with AVCHD on a Mac that I was wary of going that way. And since both recorded to flash memory, I am uneasy about archiving my media, so... I just put it off. Fast forward to two weeks ago... BASIC Review: Western Digital "My Passport" Pocket HDD (1TB)

This is a BASIC review of the Western Digital "My Passport" Hard Disk Drive (1TB in this case), just the drive in itself. As of this upload, the drive comes in 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB sizes. Larger soon to come. The HDD also comes with software to password-protect your data, as well as giving a graphical representation of the types of files are on the drive, and to an extent, a graphical percentage of each. To me, this is just a multimedia drive, so this added software is useless to me, as it'll not function on multimedia players if it's password protected. The drive works right out of the box (for PC's at least), and is powered by the included USB cable. Best part is, it's a solid chunk, not the old 2GB partitions their other HDD's use. While this HDD can play multimedia files just fine, it is NOT recommended for playing games, or anything that needs to occasionally hit the drive for data. Games will appear to freeze up, as well as other apps, since the drive imediately powers down when it's not in use. This drive is solely designed for backup purposes, so: Good for multimeidia use: YES Good for backup purposes: YES Good for games: NO Good for intense apps: NO Included Software: DEPENDS (If you take it with you, maybe, maybe not.)

New camera cost: 15671yen including a second battery CASIO Exilim FC-150 The old CASIO microphone started giving me trouble at random last year in the form of a static noise on a clip now and then. Recently it just failed and has about 5% of the original gain. You can scream in the mic and the play back audio is barley audible. So................ its the CASIO FC-150 for me:P Its a significant improvement over the old cam and I like the CMOS sensor. It has almost exactly the same firm wear and decent optics for its size. Almost to big by my standards but able to slip it in and out of my pocket discreetly. CCD stands for charge-coupled device; CMOS stands for complimentary metal-oxide semiconductor. These are the chips onto which the light captured by a camcorder's lens is focused. Those signals are processed further inside the camcorder and ultimately, the image is recorded to the camcorder's storage medium, whether it's tape, DVD, or an internal or external hard drive. Cameras with multiple image sensors use one chip per light primary color (red, green and blue), and utilize a separate image processor to combine the three signals into a color video image. Newer and cheaper CMOS chips bundle both an image sensor and image processor into a single chip. All CCD designs utilize an image processor that is separate from the actual light-capturing sensor.
